Accessing Data Using the Advanced Mode
Depending on your version of WebFOCUS and your permissions, you may be able to access data using the Advanced Mode, making more options available to you when uploading or connecting to data.

It’s easy to connect to various data sources and create synonyms, or add or change adapter connections.
Then use your data for content creation or further analysis.
From the Home page, click the Get Data button.
The Get Data dialog opens.
Depending on your version of WebFOCUS and your permissions, you may have the option to configure a new adapter.
Let’s configure a new adapter.
You can search for an adapter by category or keyword.
Right-click an adapter and click Configure.
Depending on your version of WebFOCUS and your permissions, you may have access to additional metadata options, so you can edit previously created synonyms.
When you upload a spreadsheet or delimited file with columns of repeating values, you can pivot the columns to rows.
After you upload or connect to data, you can Join data sources based on shared fields to enhance the data available to you.
Using WebFOCUS, it’s easy to upload your data to a target environment, so you can use it later for content creation or further analysis.
From the Home page, click the Get Data button.

Click your upload file type. You can upload Delimited, Excel, JSON, or XML files.
An Excel file can contain a single worksheet or multiple worksheets. Delimited, JSON, and XML files are individual data sources.
Let’s upload a multi-sheet Excel file.
Select your file and click Open.
This video introduces the newly redesigned Home Page, which features an updated look and improved navigation. When you sign into WebFOCUS, the Home Page opens with the Home view displayed by default. This view provides quick access to recent items, your favorite content, and all of the portals that currently available to you in the repository. Trial users can also see the Getting Started carousel, where you can see the quick start guides and videos. You can scroll through each of these carousels or click the View All button to see all of the items in this section.
You can run a Reporting Object or any individual component of it from the browser. You can run a Reporting Object in the following ways:
The Run option in the Reporting Object tool is enabled regardless of the setting of the Only Run as a Deferred Report property.
The Report component creates a report template and saves it in a Reporting Object. Authorized users can use the report template to create a report that suits their needs and then save the new report.
To create a report template, double-click the Report component, or right-click the component and select Open. InfoAssist opens, allowing you to create a report template.

The Chart component works exactly like the Report component. The Chart component creates a chart template and saves it in a Reporting Object. Authorized users can use the chart template to create a chart that suits their needs and then save the new chart.
