Classifying Metadata During Upload and Using it in a Data Flow

Metadata Classification examines your data and assigns classifications to the columns, which can then be used to match columns from separate data sources. In this release, you can classify data that you upload, and use it to match fields in a Union in a Data Flow.

When uploading a data file, you can now view the recommended metadata classification values for each character-valued column. You can choose to keep the recommended values, or to change them.

Merging Data Into an Existing Data Source With ON TABLE MERGE

The ON TABLE MERGE clause in a TABLE or TABLEF command enables you to insert, update, and delete records in an existing single-segment data source.

Data sources that support insert, update, and delete operations, either for individual records or bulk load, can take advantage of the full set of options for ON TABLE MERGE. Relational data sources support all of these options. Other data sources, such as delimited and fixed format sequential data sources, can only have records appended to the existing data source.

Changing Metadata Classification Values When Uploading Data Files

When uploading a data file, you can view the recommended metadata classification values for each character-valued column. You can choose to keep the recommended values, or to change them.

Including classification values in your data improves the accuracy of mapping column tables correctly to each other. This is useful if you are integrating data from multiple sources, or if integrating data into a system with a predefined hierarchy. When creating unions from different data sources, the metadata classification algorithm will match columns with similar data.

Verifying Downloaded Files

The software download page provides download links for obtaining the installation package and other supporting files that may be available for each product.

All files posted on the download site are signed by the release manager, using the SHA-512 algorithm. SHA-512 checksums are available, along with the files (file.sha512).

File hashes are used to check that a file has been downloaded correctly.

Configuring WebFOCUS App Studio Help

As of Release 8207.25, WebFOCUS App Studio Help is configured, by default, to use Online Help that is hosted by ibi servers. This Help configuration is applied for new installations or when upgrading from an earlier release. The installation package no longer includes the help files, which greatly reduces the installation file size and time required to install and configure the software.

Video: How to Use New or Existing Content in Pages

Using WebFOCUS Designer, you can create a single content item – either a chart or report – or you can create a page that contains multiple items. There are two different kinds of pages.  These pages are similar in appearance and general functionality, but provide a slightly different set of options, particularly when it comes to filtering behavior.    Show a finished page

Bookmarking Control Selections in a Page

Bookmarking allows users to save filter control selections and other run-time content customizations that they make in a page so that they can easily reapply them when they run the page again later. This is especially useful when there are many filter controls on a page that a user may want to apply each time they access it. Bookmarks are personal to each user and can easily be created and deleted as needed.
