Problem

In Mainframe FOCUS versions before 7.7, there is a module called RSQL which is used when binding FOCUS to Db2. Is this still required for the 7709 version?

Solution

In the pre-7.7 versions, a job named GENFDB2 needed to run which creates the RSQL DBRMLIB by compiling the DB2PARMS assembly code source.

In version 7.7 and after, an already assembled DBRMLIB is sent in the install files.  The RSQL and GENFDB2 are no longer needed.  There is a new job that needs to be run which is just the BIND step and it will use a DBRMLIB called DB2VnnPR, where nn is the Db2 version you are accessing.

So to answer the question, no, the RSQL module is not used to access Db2 in Mainframe FOCUS versions 7.7.x and above.
