SQL Server encrypted columns using Always Encrypted of the SQL Server do not display properly

Problem

SQL Server columns that are encrypted using the Always Encrypted feature of the SQL Server do not display properly.

Solution

The SQL Server ODBC Data adapter is required in addition to the SQL Server ODBC Driver release 13.1 or later.

The correct adapter is being used, but the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 is configured with the adapter. Configuring the adapter with the ODBC v17 driver resolved the issue.
