Video: How to Group Numeric Values With Binning

Hello, and welcome to this video on Binning, which allows you to group numeric data values to plot the frequency distribution of values in your data.
Bins are a standard data analysis technique. With bins, you group number values in continuous increments that you control. This lets you summarize large amounts of data across measures, and lets you analyze trends and quickly identify outliers.

Video: How to Personalize Default Values for Filter Controls

In this video we will discuss how to use an amper-amper global variable to personalize default values in filter controls on the page.

This feature is especially useful if you want to customize the initial view of the page and its content for specific users and groups. This feature requires access to the Text Editor and Administration Console.

Video: How to Use the Global Name Feature to Synchronize Filter Controls

In this video we will look at the Global Name feature of WebFOCUS Designer, which offers a quick and easy way to link control selections between pages.
To activate the feature, simply populate the Global Name field on the Properties panel for the filter controls that you want to link. You can enter any text that makes sense to you.

In our example we are assigning a Global Name to the Region and Dates controls. Notice that Dates is a combined control that consists of From and To controls. In case of combined controls, only one Global Name value can be assigned.

Video: How to Create Calculated Fields

When you create content in WebFOCUS Designer, you are not restricted to the fields that exist in your data source. You can create calculations from the data that exists to automate summations and other mathematical tasks related to your data fields. You can specify operators, fields, variables, and functions when creating a calculation. A calculation takes up no storage space in the data source, and is created only when needed.
You can create the following types of calculations:

Using Paging to Navigate Pages in a Report

You can navigate between pages in an interactive report or grid (AHTML) using the page navigation options, in the pagination bar. These options make it easy to view large amounts of data quickly, without scrolling. For stand-alone items, such as a single report that contains a large amount of data, the pagination bar appears at the bottom of the container. When you are creating a page that contains multiple reports, the pagination bar appears at the bottom of the page container.

An example of the pagination bar for a single interactive report are shown below.

Video: How to Link to External Content From a Page

Welcome to this video on the link tile widget in WebFOCUS Designer.

The link tile widget provides additional innovative ways of using your content and incorporating it into your Designer page.
You can access the link tile widget from the Container tab of the Sidebar.

The Link tile widget arranges content in such a way that one content item becomes a click-through tile that opens another content item. This feature is especially useful when you need to incorporate a large or Insight-enabled item into a page and display it on all devices.

Video: How to Use Auto Linking to Connect Your Data Hierarchies

Auto-linking allows you to dynamically link many charts and other content to a single chart, based on their common sort (BY) fields and parameters referenced in any filters. This saves you a lot of time and effort creating and maintaining drilldowns in your charts.
Auto Linking enables you to dynamically access a vast amount of information from a single chart, resulting in a library of interconnected, referable content.
