Creating a Business View on a Target in a Data Flow

You can create a Business View for the target to categorize the columns into measures and dimensions. This view of the data is used by Designer for creating reports and charts.

Right-click the target and select Edit Business View. The Synonym Editor opens, as shown in the following image.

  • You can create a default Business View by clicking the Create Default button () at the top of the Business View pane.

By default, numeric fields are added as measures and alphanumeric fields are added as dimensions, as shown in the following image.

You can edit the Business View using the options available. You can reclassify fields to change their DV roles, remove selected fields from the Business View, rename folders, and add new folders.

Reset Default () and Flatten () buttons are added. The Flatten button shows only the fields in the folders, not the hierarchical relationships between them.

You can hide the Business View by clicking the X. You can change the view by clicking the ellipsis (...).

  • You can create just the template folders, by clicking the Create Template Folders button () at the top of the Business View pane.
