Installing the Retail Samples Package


In WebFOCUS Release 8207 and higher, the Retail Samples zip file is available from the following URL: https://webfocusinfocenter.informationbuilders.com/tech/archived_wf_pkgs/retail_samples.zip 

The Retail Samples zip file contains a folder with the following components:

  • Retail_Samples_Domain_CM_v08.zip. Change Management (CM) import package with the Retail Samples workspace content.
  • retail_samples_readme.txt. Contains information about how to access technical content that explains how to import the Retail Samples content and create the WebFOCUS Retail database.
  • retail_samples_users.csv. A comma-separated values (CSV) file containing predefined sample users.

Procedure: How to Install the Retail Samples Package

  1. Download the Retail Samples zip file from here: https://webfocusinfocenter.informationbuilders.com/tech/archived_wf_pkgs/retail_samples.zip, and save it to a location on your machine. Note: Login is required.
  2. Unzip retail_samples.zip to a location on your machine.

    You should be able to access the Retail_Samples_Domain_CM_v08.zip change management package, which you will import into your WebFOCUS environment.

  3. Sign in to WebFOCUS as an Administrator.
  4. From the User menu, click Legacy Homepage to open the Legacy Home Page.
  5. On the Legacy Home Page, in the Resources tree, expand the Change Management node, right-click the Import node, and then select Upload a Zip File, as shown in the following image.

  6. Click Browse.

    The Open dialog box displays, as shown in the following image.

  7. Navigate to the location where you unzipped retail_samples.zip.
  8. Select the Retail_Samples_Domain_CM_v08.zip file that was extracted from retail_samples.zip, and click Open.

    You are returned to the Upload a Zip File dialog box, as shown in the following image.

  9. Ensure the Publish Document(s) option is selected and click Upload.

    A message displays, indicating the zip file uploaded successfully, as shown in the following image.

  10. Click OK.

    Under Change Management in the Resources tree, the Retail_Samples_Domain_CM_v08.zip file is now listed under the Import node, as shown in the following image.

  11. Close the Upload a Zip File dialog box.
  12. Right-click the Retail_Samples_Domain_CM_v08.zip file and click Import, as shown in the following image.

  13. Select the following options in this dialog box:

    In the Content Resources section:

    • Add New and Update Existing Resources

    In the Security Resources section:

    • Groups check box and Add New radio button
    • Import Rules On Resources
       
  14. Click OK.

    The Scenario import in progress message displays, as shown in the following image.

    When the import process has completed, the Import successful message displays, as shown in the following image.

  15. Click OK.
  16. In the Resources tree, right-click the Workspaces node and select Refresh, as shown in the following image.

  17. Expand the Workspaces node.

    Ensure that the new Retail Samples workspace node is listed, as shown in the following image.

  18. Expand the Portal folder inside the Retail Samples workspace.

    Ensure that the Retail Samples collaborative portal is listed, as shown in the following image.

  19. Under Workspaces, right-click the new Retail Samples folder, point to Security, and click Rules on this Resource, as shown in the following image.

    The Rules on this Resource: Retail Samples (IBFS:/WFC/Repository/Retail_Samples) dialog box opens, as shown in the following image.

    This verifies that the security rules were successfully created for the new Retail Samples folder.

  20. Click Close.

    Before you can successfully run the Retail Samples content, you need to create the WebFOCUS Retail database and metadata.
