Integration Points for In-Document Analytics

In-Document Analytics (IDA) provides an interactive interface that allows you to generate real-time, dynamic reports, charts, and dashboards. When working in InfoAssist, you can set the output format to HTML Analytic Document format or PDF Analytic Document format, which will enable you to interact with your content. You can also change options on the Analytic Document Options dialog box. You can use the following integration points to get the full picture of the changes that display as of Release 8206:

  • Output File Format (Home tab)
  • User Format (selecting an output type at run time)
  • Status Bar
  • Format tab (Features group)
  • Analytic Document Options dialog box
  • Insert tab (Active Dashboard Prompts group)

Note: There are also updates to InfoMini, which are presented in a similar topic in the KnowledgeBase.

On the Home tab, in the Format group, you can change the output file format, as shown in the following image.

The updated formats, HTML Analytic Document and PDF Analytic Document, support the implementation of In-Document Analytics, a feature that enables interaction with content at run time. Display of these options is set by your administrator.

Similarly, at run time, you can select an output type if you have set your output file format to User Selection. Two options have been updated: HTML Analytic Document and PDF Analytic Document, as shown in the following image.

The status bar also shows the updated options for In-Document Analytics, as shown in the following image.

This makes it easy to switch formats, particularly if you are working with multiple items at the same time.

On the Format tab, in the Features group, the Active Report Options button has been renamed to Analytic Document Options, as shown in the following image.

Note: This button is activated when you select an Analytic Document format.

This invokes the Analytic Document Options dialog box where you can set general options, such as how a window displays or specify additional options, such as how color is used throughout your document. This dialog box is shown in the following image.

On the Insert tab, the Active Dashboard Prompts group has been renamed to the Analytic Document Prompts group, as shown in the following image.

Note: The Insert tab is only available in Document mode. In addition, this group is only visible when HTML Analytic Document or PDF Analytic Document are selected.

You can insert analytic document prompts into a document to act as filters for the reports and charts on the dashboard. You can cascade (chain) prompts to populate them based on the selections from the previous prompts.
