Video: How to Create a Maintain Data Application

App Studio Maintain Data creates web-based data maintenance applications for updating, adding, and deleting records in a data source. Using Maintain Data and its multi-platform 4GL language, you can easily create, test, and deploy complex business applications that span the Internet, IBM mainframes, midrange servers, and workstations.
The Maintain Data GUI uses English-like syntax and wizards that enable you to develop maintenance applications and reports quickly, with minimal training.

Video: How to Build a Precision Report

Precision reports are a way to format report output to instantly populate forms.
This example will show how to automatically fill out some of the fields on this W-4 tax form to give some new employees a head start on their paperwork.  The data used in this tutorial comes from the wf_retail_lite sample database included with the product.

Video: How to Use the Metadata Canvas

The goal of this video is to introduce the Metadata canvas.

Video: How to Log Global Updates

Welcome to our ReportCaster video on recording global updates.

When you use the ReportCaster Console Global Updates tool to update a value, you will generate a record of the global update you just initiated. This logging behavior is activated by default.

Now, we’re going to demonstrate how this feature works.

In this example, we will change all email addresses that will be used by ReportCaster schedules.

Instead of distributing reports to EmailA@ibi.com, we will change the email address for all schedules using EmailA@ibi.com to EmailB@ibi.com.

Video: How to Monitor Server Performance

Welcome to our ReportCaster Video on viewing graphs for Loaded Classes and Live threads.

These two graphs can help users streamline the debugging and troubleshooting process for distribution servers.

When you navigate to the ReportCaster Console, click the Server Performance button to see six graphs measuring various performance attributes.

The Loaded Classes graph measures the amount of classes that have been loaded and unloaded during the past hour.

Video: Usability Improvements for Auto Populating Fields

Welcome to our ReportCaster video on auto populating the FTP field and the names of Report Library files.

These are usability improvements for the ReportCaster scheduling tool.

When you set a schedule to distribute a report using an FTP distribution method, the file name information contained in the Save Report As field will automatically transfer to the name field for your Single File FTP distribution method.

The Save Report As field information will also be transferred to Library Reports.

Running a Talking Report With a Follow-up Question

You can also set up multiple reports to run off of each other, by asking WebFOCUS follow-up questions for the content of each report. In addition to a TALKTEXT Compute field, we will set a global parameter that will be used in and by both reports.

For this more advanced example, we will create two procedures that work with one another. To create this type of report, you must use the Text Editor that is available from the WebFOCUS Home Page.

From the WebFOCUS Home Page, on the Action bar, click the Other tab, and then click Text Editor.

Video: How to Configure and Use Traffic Lights

Hello, and welcome to this App Studio How-To video, where we’ll show you how to set conditional styling on a row or field in a report using the Traffic Lights feature.
This feature lets you apply styling in the output when the field value meets criteria that you specify.
Use the Traffic Lights feature from the Reports tab…
…to create conditional styling that applies to the whole row.
Or, you can use the Traffic Lights feature from the Appearance tab…
…to create conditional styling that applies to column data fields alone. Let’s demonstrate this option.
